Maix Mayer

Maix Mayer is a conceptual and media artist from Leipzig, Germany, who lived in "socialist" East Germany until 1989. This period was marked by the decay of East German cities and led the artist to develop a lasting interest in the subject of urban transformation. After graduating in marine biology and visual arts, he earned a doctorate on the relationship between media and urbanism. His method is to reduce complex issues to generate a new intermedial poetic complexity.
His works have been exhibited worldwide, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Geementemuseum in Den Haag, Museu Brasileiro da Escultura in São Paulo, Nationalgalerie in Szczecin, Museum Angewandte Kunst in Vienna, etc.
