Church of the Visitation

Part of a convent of Poor Clare nuns designed by architect Orazio Turriani for Duke Flavio Orsini between 1641 and 1669, the church took on its present appearance in 1832 as a result of work ordered by Prince Torlonia. In 1834 the Sisters of Divine Love settled in the convent. In 1871, with the suppression of religious bodies, the building passed to the municipality, which sold it in 1928. The church never lost its relgious functions.

Municipal Palace

The palace was built between 1619 and 1636 as the seat of the community. Due to the poor construction it was immediately affected by stability problems and underwent several restorations because of this. The facade, built around 1630 and designed by architect Orazio Turriani, had open loggias on the first and second floors. The static problems were finally solved in 1770 by architect Virginio Bracci, at which time the loggias were closed.

Renaissance walls - Pescino 17 at the gardens

The garden, formerly part of the castle, was given by the Odescalchi family to the municipality and used as a communal garden in the early 2000s.

November IV Square

Following the construction of the Town Hall and the two small palaces on its wing, the Community Council decided to build a fountain to complete the square. In 1741 Duke Odescalchi granted permission to the community, donating three ounces of water from his aqueduct for this purpose. The duke's architect Mario Asprucci was commissioned for the project. The fountain was finished in 1743.

Delia Scala Theater

The building that houses the theater was formerly an ironworks, part of the system of factories commissioned by the Odescalchi family between 1710 and 1724 that included six ironworks, a paper mill and two grinding wheels, located along the course of an aqueduct that provided motive power for the machines. Ceded to the municipality and converted into a washhouse during the 19th century, it was restored between 2007 and 2009 for use as a multipurpose cultural space.

The cloister is part of the former Augustinian convent commissioned by Cardinal Giordano Orsini in the first half of the 15th century. At the base of the staircase the foundation plaque dating from 1438 is still visible. Renaissance Walls - Bastion of the Sentinel

The Sentinel bastion is part of the defense system built in the late 15th century together with the Orsini castle. It is possible that its construction was the result of advice given to Gentil Virginio Orsini, lord of Bracciano and important condottiere, by the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, summoned to Bracciano in 1490. It is probably one of the first angled bastions built in Italy.

The original church, much smaller than the present one, probably dates back to the 13th century. The building underwent several extensions until, between 1652 and 1671, it was completely rebuilt, assuming its present Latin cross plan. The facade was built between 1758 and 1760. During the 1886 restorations, paintings were made on the roof and side walls of the presbytery, the work of the painter Wolfango Conti.

Church of Mercy

The first church was built in the early 17th century for the Confraternity of Mercy, also called the Company of the Good Death because it was responsible for comforting those condemned to death in their last moments of life and giving them a proper burial.
